Dr. Qazi Moinuddin Mahmud, AFHEA

Dr. Qazi Moinuddin Mahmud AFHEA is an accomplished academic and governance leader with over 17 years of experience spanning higher education, corporate leadership, and policy advisory roles. Dr. Mahmud is appointed in the Board of Directors of Union Capital Limited on 30 July 2022 as an Independent Director nominated by Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). Later he is elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company on 27 September 2025. In this capacity, he provides strategic oversight, audit leadership, and compliance guidance, ensuring the highest standards of transparency and institutional trust. Before assuming this role, he served as Chairman of the Audit Committee, where he strengthened governance practices and reinforced accountability across the organization.

Holding a PhD in Human Capital Development from the University of Bradford School of Management, UK, funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, Dr. Mahmud brings a rare integration of scholarly expertise and financial sector leadership. His doctoral research, awarded the Dean’s Prize for Innovation and Impact, reflects his commitment to bridging theory and practice in organizational capacity building. He is also an Associate Fellow of Advance HE (AFHEA), UK.

Beyond his corporate role, Dr. Mahmud is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Dhaka, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervises MPhil and PhD researchers. He also served as an adjunct faculty member at BUET and the leading business schools, including North South University, East West University, Independent University Bangladesh, United International University. His teaching and training contributions extend to professional institutions such as the Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM), Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), National Academy for Planning and Development (NAPD), Centre for Advanced Research in Strategic Human Resource Management (CARSHRM), University of Dhaka, and the Ministry of Planning, among others.

His academic contributions span talent management, governance, financial inclusion, and sustainable HRM, with publications in respected international outlets including Human Resource Development International, Palgrave Studies in African Leadership, and Emerald journals. He also serves as a reviewer for leading journals, reinforcing his standing in the global academic community.

Dr. Mahmud’s governance expertise extends to policy advisory roles with Bangladesh Bank, where he has contributed to HR policy alignment, transparent evaluation processes, and directly served in the selection of a human resource consultancy firm to strengthen institutional capacity. His leadership is further enriched by international learning experiences, including executive education at the MIT Sloan School of Management and advanced research training at the University of Oxford.
